AI You Interact With
Do Exercise:
1) Think of a task you would like AI to perform. If you were to perform this task yourself what steps would you take?
2) Which type of AI (Conversational AI, Generative AI or Co-Pilot) would be best at performing this task?
I Understand Perfectly
Do Exercise:
1) Ask AI to give you an example of a prompt that it would have difficulty interpreting and answering well. Note down it's answer.
2) Attempt to rewrite the prompt in a way you think AI would be able to answer more easily.
3) Ask AI to reword the initial prompt it suggested, and compare it's answer with yours
Prompt Engineering Made Easy
Do Exercise:
1) Ask AI a very broad question about a complex topic you are interested in and know something about – for example "tell me about the history of the United States." - What are your observations about its answer?
2) Using the steps described in this lesson, refine your question progressively. Note how the AI responses change as your prompts get more specific and structured. Note down what this in terms of how you will approach prompting going forward.
AI is Often Wrong, But Still Useful
Do Exercise:
For this exercise you have already been primed to be skeptical, but try to imagine yourself approaching AI as a beginner…
Pick a topic you know little about and ask AI to give you a 200 word article about it. Give it a Grade from A+ to F. Did it seem accurate, did it appear to emphasize the right things, and did it appear to miss key facts?
Now repeat the exercise for a topic you have pretty deep expertise in. Do you see inaccuracies, or key things it missed?
Note down any differences you notice regarding how you responded to the article.
